The Nursery at Perth City Farm is, like all our other areas, almost entirely run by volunteers. We grow a variety of seasonal herbs, vegetables and flowers, and a range of unusual, medicinal and useful plants. You know when you buy from us that your dollar is supporting your local environmentally friendly, minimal waste organisation.
Plants are available from our trolley just outside City Farm Café (just under the giant trowel) from Monday to Friday between 9am and 2.30pm, and on Saturday mornings at our Farmers’ Market from 8am to 12pm.
As we are volunteer driven, and don’t want to use disposable plastic labels, we aren’t currently able to label every plant, so to assist people with identifying the plants, we have a plant photo album on our Facebook page (and on this website) to assist with identifying the plants we have available and some of their uses.
You can return the pots from the plants you buy from us, however we don’t accept pots from elsewhere.
We are always looking for volunteers who are capable and curious about plants and have good fine motor abilities to help us in the day to day nursery activities: Seed and cutting propagation, pricking out and potting on, you can learn new skills and new plants and help us keep this vital area running smoothly. Head to our Get Involved menu for more information about volunteering with Perth City Farm.
We are also redesigning and budgeting for a new (to us!) shade house and love the assistance of design and project managing skilled individuals to help us progress this special project.
